Prayer – Psalm 86
Lord, you are ready for forgive as the psalmist delcares and we need your forgiveness. Just as you have sent your son to receive the just and right wages we earned, we need your redemption for that wage is too great for us. We are needy and in need of everything you provide and have not one thing to give to you in return that you have not already graciously provided us. Daily through hourly want, we need your provision and remind ourselves of your great loving kindness which you showed to Israel and by faith we believe you extend to those that were not your people but now are your people through the cross.
You alone are God most high. All our idols are nothing but our own vain thoughts in attempt to ignore you in the world you created. But, every nation upon the earth you have created will acknowledge you and proclaim your name because of your great redemption.
Our hearts are divided because of our conflicting wills. Our sinful nature and limited flesh incline toward ourself; sin and rebellion grasp at making a stronghold against your law and your goodness. However, you draw us to yourself by transforming our hearts and making us fear you. Your loving kindness and steadfast love is great towards us and we seek after you, to know you, and praise your great name within this world.
We are not without opposition from those that fear you. Men in their rebellion seek to unseat the great God and savior from the throne that is rightly yours. We know, however, that you are not alarmed by such men and your throne is established in the heavens where is to far out of reach by sinful men. Stenthen your own, your church, that we may be bold to proclaim your right to all men, their lives, they treasures, and their obedience. Let them be ashamed when they see your goodness to those whom you redeem.
